My Life
This is quite a relevant issue right now, because I'm in the process of job searching
for "the job." Back in college, I thought I knew what I was going to do. Now having been in
the real world for a couple years, the only consistent thing is that I keep on changing my mind
a lot. Perhaps it has something to do with UCSD being such a theoretical school, and as a result
I have little hands-on experience, or perhaps it's just me.
I worked as a Researcher for more than a year, performing Internet research. It turned out
to be a glorified secretary's job, and wasn't challenging. They were also kinda lame
when it boiled down to things. Then I took my time finding a technical support job,
something I thought would suit me very well since it would be technically challenging and involve
people interaction. However, I soon found out that that particular job involved a lot of
networking and systems, something I wasn't especially interested in the longterm. Now, my focus
is on software support and/or database. As I have a tendency to organize, as well as think logically
and linearly, it would seem to suit me. So, I'm back to temping and job searching again. In the
meanwhile, I hope to take a database course. I'm also thinking about grad school sometime in
the future, so I've kept myself busy studying for it. Yes, all that math is going to be a pain..
.can't even remember the last time I had math. Anyway, my life isn't static, but right now I
wish I had more direction in it.
